SLEEPOVER เป็นกิจกรรมที่ The Reading Room เชิญชวนให้บุคคลและองค์กรด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรมร่วมสร้างบทสนทนากับพื้นที่ ความรู้ และชุมชนของห้องสมุด ผ่านกิจกรรมสาธารณะที่ไม่จำกัดรูปแบบและเนื้อหา เพื่อเพิ่มความหลากหลายสร้างสรรค์ในการเข้าถึงกิจกรรม รวมถึงสร้างความสัมพันธ์และความร่วมมือระหว่างสาขาและชุมชน

โดยผู้ร่วมงานทั้งหกเดือนนี้ นอกจากจะเป็นกลุ่มคนที่มีความสำคัญในสาขางานของตนแล้ว ยังทำงานที่ส่งอิทธิพลข้ามสาขาไปยังชุมชนสังคมวัฒนธรรมทั้งในและต่างประเทศ และมีความสนใจในประเด็นร่วมสมัย เพื่อเปิดพื้นที่ในการวิเคราะห์ วิพากษ์ และเสริมสร้างบทสนทนาอย่างเปิดกว้าง

SLEEP OVER
: Temporary Platform for Critical Engagement

What will happen when The Reading Room invites six participants to takeover the library over six months period?

In “SLEEP OVER,” The Reading Room invites six participants to sleepover, takeover, and thinkover our space and our program for one month each, from May to October 2016.

The project aims to temporarily handover the ownership of The Reading Room to diverse members of the cultural community, and entrust these participants with the freedom to create, curate, and develop their concepts and practices in a new and unconventional environs, integrated with an open and discursive context, and endowed with a responsive group of audience, in order to create a participatory platform in wider sociocultural community.

Six participants in this project are not only leading instruments in their fields of practice but also casts their influence over sociocultural landscape, both locally and internationally. Moreover, their works usually express and address contemporary social and political situation and encourage open exchange and discourses.
