Transparent sticker on circle glass window, 2010

Return Ticket: Thailand-Germany, on occasion of the 50th anniversary the Goethe-Institute in Bangkok, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Bangkok, Thailand (curated by Dr. Axel Feuss) *catalog

Window dimensions: 300x300 cm.

Fragile Figure symbolizes the map of the Greater Mekong Sub-region containing Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and parts of China and Vietnam. Turned sideways it resembles the figure of a bird with a broken wing. None of these countries seems to be strong enough to freely fly up out of the economical and political problems."
Dr. Axel Feuss

The graphic of “Fragile Figure“ originates from my previous work “Billionair Game“, which I did for a group show at Singapore Management University (SMU) Gallery, Singapore on January 2010.

Billionaire Game is a humorous, metaphorical and political representation of how these outside interests could come to affect or rule the GMS.  On a dartboard of the GMS turned sideways, the winner is the one who catches the ENTIRE bird/region, with all of its 6 parts/ countries.
