Som Supaparinya
Som Supaparinya lives and works in Chiang Mai and Lamphun, Thailand. Her works encompass a wide variety of mediums such as installation, objects, still and moving images which have produced mainly with a documentarian and experimentarian approach. The works focus on the impact of human activities on other humans and landscape through political, historical, and literary lenses. The changing landscape by various means motivated her practice. Her works are stories on noodles cultures, the change of the riverscapes, cityscapes, routes, electricity generation, resistance sites and banned books.
Som earned a BFA in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Chiang Mai University and a Meisterschüler (postgraduate studies for artists) in Media Arts from Hochschule Fuer Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany. She is a 2005 Imaging Our Mekong media fellowship and a 2010 Asian Cultural Council fellowship at International Studio & Curatorial Program – ISCP in New York City. She was selected to participate in the International Creator Residency Program at the Tokyo Wonder Site Aoyama in 2012, Foundation Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, NRW, Germany in 2013 and Wellington Asia Residency Exchange, New Zealand in 2015. She was nominated for the Prudential Eye Awards 2016 shortlist in ‘Best Emerging Artist Using Digital/Video’, Singapore. Winners of Institut Français for an artist-in-residence at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France in 2018. She has participated in the founding and operation of CAC – Chiangmai Art Conversation since 2013. She was a director of Asian Culture Station (ACS) in the year 2016-2019 as a partner organization with the Japan Foundation Asia Center Tokyo to establish the project.

ประวัติ ; ส้ม ศุภปริญญา
ส้ม ศุภปริญญาอาศัยและทํางานที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่และลำพูน ประเทศไทย จบปริญญาตรีจากสาขาจิตรกรรม คณะวิจิตรศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ และเคยทํางานเป็นอาจารย์ประจําที่นั่น ได้รับการศึกษาสูงสุดระดับ Meisterschulerin ด้านสื่อศิลปะ (Medienkunst) จาก Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst เมืองไลป์ซิก ประเทศเยอรมนี เธอสร้างผลงานทัศนศิลป์ที่หลากหลายรูปแบบ ตั้งแต่ศิลปะติดตั้ง (Installation) รวมทั้งภาพนิ่ง และภาพเคลื่อนไหว ซึ่งมักเป็นผลงานทดลองและสารคดี ทั้งได้แสดงผลงานสู่สาธารณะในและต่างประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง ผลงานของเธอกล่าวถึงหลายสถานการณ์ที่ได้เผชิญ โดยสัมพันธ์กับโครงสร้างทางสังคมและการเมือง ที่มีผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม การเปลี่ยนแปลงของพื้นที่และภูมิศาสตร์ ไปจนถึง ใช้ความเป็นปัจเจกบุคคล, ประสบการณ์ตรง และการศึกษาวิจัย เป็นกรอบในการมองเพื่อสร้างผลงานศิลปะ เช่นเรื่องวัฒนธรรมก๋วยเตี๋ยว การเปลี่ยนแปลงของภูมิทัศน์ของแม่น้ำ เมือง เส้นทาง การผลิตกระแสไฟฟ้า รวมถึง พื้นที่ขบถ และ หนังสือต้องห้าม
ในปี 2554 – 2555 เธอได้ร่วมจัดเทศกาลภาพยนตร์เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ไลฟ์สเคป กับมหาวิทยาลัยพายัพ เชียงใหม่ เคยร่วม Imaging Mekong Fellowship ซึ่งเป็นโครงการฝึกฝนและร่วมมือกันของนักข่าวในประเทศลุ่มแม่น้ำโขงใน และ Asian Cultural Council Fellowship โดยทำงานที่ The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) นิวยอร์ค เป็นศิลปินในพํานัก ในโครงการ International Creator Residency Program ที่ Tokyo Winder Site อาโอยาม่า, Foundation Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, เยอรมันนีใน Wellington Asia Residency Exchange ประเทศนิวซีแลนด์, Cité Internationale des Arts, ปารีส, ประเทศฝรั่งเศส (สนับสนุนโดย Institut français), – River in residence: เมือง Pontianak และ Sintang, West Kalimantan, เกาะบอร์เนียว, ประเทศอินโดนีเซีย, Villa Ruffieux, Château Mercier, Sierre, Valais, ประเทศสวิสเซอร์แลนด์ และ ล่าสุด DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program กรุงเบอร์ลิน ประเทศเยอรมนี และมีแผนแสดงงานเดี่ยวที่นั่นในปี 2567 นอกจากนั้นเธอได้เดินทางไปวิจัยผ่านทุน The Japan Foundation Asia Center Fellowship Program หัวข้อ “The Study of Crossing Cultures through International Relationship between Small Cities.” ในประเทศญี่ปุ่น สิงคโปร์ มาเลเซีย บรูไน และพม่า ในปี 2562
ในฐานะศิลปินทัศนศิลป์ท่ามกล่างชุมชนศิลปะในเชียงใหม่ ในพ.ศ. 2556 เธอได้ร่วมก่อตั้งและดำเนินการ CAC- Chiangmai Art Conversation ในพ.ศ. 2559-2562 CAC ได้เป็นร่วมกับ เจแปนฟาวน์เดชั่นเอเชียเซ็นเตอร์ ดำเนินโครงการ Asia Culture Station (ACS) ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ซึ่งเธอทำหน้าที่เป็นผู้อำนวยการ
